Nationals’ Scherzer, Boston’s Porcello win Cy Young Awards

November 18 04:11 2016

“With all due respect to Kate Upton, it’s time for her and everybody else to pipe down”.

Porcello led the majors with 22 wins, and beat out Detroit’s Justin Verlander and Cleveland’s Corey Kluber in results announced Wednesday.

Justin Verlander did not win the Cy Young Award, which wasn’t that big of a surprise.

Then Kate went insane. Verlander, who won the 2011 award, would have gotten $500,000 for this win.

As chairman of the local chapter, I assigned Chastain and Goodall to vote for the award, and I was confident then, as I am now, that they handled the assignment thoughtfully and responsibly.

Her message was retweeted almost 64,000 times and earned over 100,000 likes (so that’s something). As if her overwhelming presence on Twitter wasn’t enough, she took to Instagram in case the Major League Baseball hadn’t seen her confrontational tweets.

She blasted Porcello, 27, in another tweet, incorrectly stating that he didn’t receive any first-place votes when he actually had eight. Verlander needed to pick up five more points to match Porcello. The five-point differential is the second closest of any election since ballots permitted voting for more than one pitcher in 1970. Because of the way the fancy math worked concerning the rankings, Verlander was edged out.

What do you think of the results of the AL Cy Young voting? So now Upton’s mad. What is a surprise is that two writers left Verlander off their ballots entirely.

Chastain added: “I wasn’t out to get Verlander, it was nothing personal”.

“She continued: “(Verlander) had the majority of 1st place votes and 2 writers didn’t have him on their ballots?! He is a multi-millionaire who goes to bed next to Kate Upton every night. “I went around the clubhouse, I asked guys”. “I honestly don’t care”. Do you know how annoying it’s going to be walking into that locker room after Upton basically told the league to go fuck itself?!
