Netflix engineers rescue Luke Cage after service falters

But boy, it should.

So, where does Luke Cage go from here?

The series, starring Mike Colter, drops at a time when police violence and atrocities against the African American community have become burning issues that are at the forefront of many political, and civic conversations. As Scarfe lays dying on the ground, Misty finds them (after she learns that Scarfe and Perez are both on Cornell’s payroll).

If you haven’t checked out Luke Cage yet, do yourself a favor and get to it! This TVverse will eventually culminate when these heroes unite in “The Defenders” – but for now they’re mostly united by a few common elements and easter eggs.

The new favorite Marvel TV hero has a badge! Imagine what it will be like in a year once more people have watched the show. The actor seemed uncertain about the possibility, citing the more adult-oriented content of Marvel’s Netflix series.

HollywoodLifers, did you have issues with Netflix on October 1? “We have, you know, adult situations, and while I think it’d be nice to be in the films, I don’t know if we want to dilute what we’re doing that makes us very unique”. Even when the show loses its edge in the back half of the season, Colter always keeps Luke on a tight leash, showing hidden depths to a character who isn’t prone to sharing and developing the superhero in really interesting ways. Something pretty wonderful about the show is that it talks about some of the issues African-Americans are facing today.

Episode three brings the ruckus, literally.

That reality made Luke Cage keep moving, but he’s finally reached the point where he’s a man exhausted of running.

ArtDontSleep will present music from the show at the Marvel’s Luke Cage: The Live Score event taking place at L.A’s The Theatre at Ace Hotel on October 6. It’s a throwback to Luke’s history. With Cornell in custody, Luke is ready to leave Harlem and start somewhere new, but Claire suggests that he stay and continue to good for the city, with her help.

A more tempered article in Vulture also claimed the show veered into respectability politics.

Because if there’s one thing every situation needs, it’s some bonus J. Jones snark. Luke Cage changes that.

Boasting an 8.9/10 rating on IMdb, the show is worth watching an episode, or two (or all). The history of the Harlem in the show is also the history of the real Harlem, which gives the show a huge amount of depth and ups the emotional stakes.
