Audi has confirmed – once more – that its entry-level Q2 compact SUV will arrive in 2016, as will the next generation Audi Q5.
In a recent statement released by Audi, the German carmaker has confirmed that it plans to enter a new market segment with the launch of the Audi Q2.
Half of the huge €3bn capital investment will be spent on upgrading the production lines at Ingolstadt and Neckarsulm in Germany.
By the end of 2015, Audi plans to introduce two new crossovers to their lineup.
In addition, Audi will present the successor of the Audi Q5 next year, thus continuing with the next chapter of its SUV success story. The news was made as the Audi Group assures the world that it’s planning to make large investments moving into the future.
The Audi Q2 is expected to be smaller than the current Q3 and will probably compete with the likes of the BMW X1. This investment will pave the way for the 2018 Q6 e-tron, which was recently previewed by the e-tron quattro concept.
The range expansion from the brand with the Four Rings will eventually lead to a portfolio of 60 different automobiles.
Edmunds says: auto shoppers who don’t want to wait until next year for these Audi SUVs have lots of good options in the meantime. Demand is particularly strong for specialists in alternative drive systems and lightweight construction, but also for IT specialists, who will further develop the fields of Audi connect, Audi mobility and smart factory in the context of digitalization.
