The Cleveland Cavaliers completely overhauled their roster Thursday afternoon by making multiple deals hours before the trade deadline.
Up next for the Cavs, it’s a date in Boston with Kyrie Irving and the Celtics on ABC. Hood is a shooter who can help get more spacing on the floor.
Cavaliers chose to ship Thomas, Channing Frye and their 2018 first-round pick to the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for Jordan Clarkson and Larry Nance Jr. He signed a three-year, $57 million contract in the offseason.
First the Cavs conceded that point guard Isaiah Thomas was not a good fit and sent the two-time All-Star to the Los Angeles Lakers for Jordan Clarkson and Akron native Larry Nance Jr.
The most recent trade for the Cavs was sending LeBron’s best friend Dwyane Wade back to his former team the Miami Heat. Since he was drafted in 2011, Thomas has now been dealt four times: From Sacramento to Phoenix in July, 2014, from Phoenix to Boston in February, 2015, from Boston to Cleveland and from Cleveland to the Lakers. General manager Koby Altman traded six players, including Isaiah Thomas, Dwyane Wade and Derrick Rose, and two future draft picks in moves created to not only help them in the short term but could potentially help keep LeBron James beyond this season.
The Cavs held Osman’s National Basketball Association rights since 2015 and chose to bring him over from Turkey last summer. “He’s going to play his game”. The Cavaliers never gave Thomas a real chance to bounce back from his injury, and if he would have been able to turn it around, then the Cavaliers would be immediate favourites in the East.
Hats off to him and the Cavs for pulling this one out. “All four of them are pretty smart guys, and it should be fun”.
James is averaging 26.3 points, 8.0 rebounds, 8.6 assists, 1.6 steals, and one block in under 37 minutes per game this season, and he is shooting 54.3 percent from the field, 35.3 percent from beyond the arc, and 74.8 percent from the free-throw stripe. They got longer and more athletic – Clarkson, Nance, Hill, and Hood are all long, lanky, athletic players who can switch across multiple positions. LBJ dished out 17 assists while also chipping in 22 points and 12 rebounds.
His team, which entered Thursday night as the owner of the best record in the Eastern Conference and the third-best record in the National Basketball Association, is one of the fortunate few well-stocked with a blend of star power, young talent, team chemistry and draft assets. It’s a different shot, but it’s so eerily similar to what he did to the Wizards last season. Frye (6-11, 255) has appeared in 144 contests (19 starts) for Cleveland since being acquired by the Cavaliers on February 18, 2016, averaging 7.5 points and 3.4 rebounds in 16.6 minutes. There was speculation that maybe the Cavs would trade that selection before the deadline, but it’s the only part of the deal that Cleveland has made a decision to keep.
