New Texans QB Deshaun Watson willing to ‘learn from veteran guys’

Despite sacrificing almost all of their high-end draft capital in 2018 to clear out the quarterback room and make the trade up to get Watson, the Texans are insisting that Tom Savage is still Houston’s starting quarterback.

Williams is the second receiver taken in the first seven picks.

However, the Kansas City Chiefs traded with the Buffalo Bills up to No. 10 and took Texas Tech quarterback Patrick Mahomes II, to the surprise of many. Houston traded its No. 25 pick and 2018 first-round pick to move up and snag him. He read it on camera.

Needless to say, it was a special night for the Watson family.

The Houston coaching staff is already declaring Savage the starter, but we will see how long that lasts. She raised Watson and his siblings while battling tongue cancer, which she beat. The Houston Texans training camp date has not been determined, but it will be held at The Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs, WV.
