New Year’s twins born a ‘year’ apart!

– They arrived just minutes apart, but these California twins were born in different years!

A case of fraternal twins is common, but the timing of their birth is rare, which is why their case has gotten worldwide attention. But the babies came out earlier than expected.

“It’s a big blessing to have two of them, [a] boy and a girl, for New Year’s”, Luis Valencia said, according to ABC affiliate KGTV in San Diego.

Maribel works as a cashier at San Diego International Airport, while husband Luis is a Navy diesel mechanic. The twins have a 3-year-old sister, Isabella.

At the time of birth, Jaelyn weighed four pounds and 15 ounces, while Luis weighed five pounds and nine ounces. Hospital staff say the infants were born happy and healthy and the parents are doing well.

A Californian woman was taken to the hospital on the New Year’s Eve for a premature delivery.
