The Daily News’ report on Tuesday that the mercurial 28-year-old signal caller wants out of San Francisco prompted plenty of questions from fans, players, coaches and charlatans literally paid by the page view.
Quarterback Colin Kaepernick may want the New York Jets, but they don’t want him.
Kaepernick’s future with the 49ers is still up in the air after the hiring of Chip Kelly as the team’s head coach.
But the 49ers could go another direction and release Kaepernick before April 1 when his 2016 salary becomes guaranteed. The New York Jets finished 10-6 this season but that wasn’t enough to get them into the playoffs as they were undercut at the last moment by the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Please explain your answers.
The fact that Kaepernick wants out isn’t a complete shock.
Warner hopes the 49ers give Kaepernick another chance, however, because he believes all struggling National Football League teams are spinning their wheels going from young quarterback to young quarterback, particularly those that weren’t groomed as drop-back passers. CBS Sports NFL Insider Jason La Canfora reported in November that Kaepernick was “virtually uncertain” to return in 2016. In Kaepernick, Kelly would have a quarterback capable of running his read option, with the speed to carry the ball himself and the arm to hit targets all over the field.
Skip Bayless asked Marshall, “How much better is Jay Cutler than Ryan Fitzpatrick?“.
“If [Smith] can learn from Fitzpatrick, I think he’ll be fine”, Marshall said.
Fitzpatrick overcame any perceived physical shortcomings with his ability to make smart decisions under duress during his career year.
The report is interesting for the Jets, who with a stringent defense and deep offense, could become a true contender with Kaepernick at the helm. “Kap’s a great kid, he’s done a lot of great things for us”.
Brandon Marshall has his guy(s), and Colin Kaepernick clearly isn’t one of them.
