Let’s see who helped or hurt their draft stock at the third day of the National Football League combine.
“Teams would show me a protection and ask me to go up there and (diagram) it after they talked me through it”.
Davenport checked off all the physical boxes here at the Combine. The 6-foot, 233-pound running back wowed onlookers at the combine this past weekend, posting a 4.40 40-yard dash and 29 reps on the bench press.
Measuring 6-foot-5 and 253 pounds, Edmunds torched the 40 in 4.54 seconds and looked extremely smooth in drills.
This year, Oklahoma left tackle Orlando Brown came to the Combine with high hopes – he’s been tipped as a first-round prospect after impressing in college.
So now let’s recap what we know about the offensive players after all of this with a position-by-position breakdown.
Jackson, at times, seems like a forgotten man in this quarterback class and some are now wondering if his future is at quarterback.
How much are you making of the Cowboys meeting with all these receivers, especially Calvin Ridley?
“It comes and goes”, Barkley said of the attention.
Moore has been naturally compared to former Terps star Stefon Diggs and that probably won’t stop after a terrific run through the drills at the Combine. That’s what makes the top pick in the draft unique – no one picks above it. He is still a raw prospect but he has Pro Bowl upside. “I had to explain my thought process”. The deep ball got the TV folks excited but the shorter throws were where he made some money with accuracy he doesn’t consistently display on film.
So for now, the picture the Browns have painted is this: 1) sign A.J. McCarron during free agency, 2) draft Saquon Barkley at No. 1 overall and 3) draft a young quarterback, likely Mayfield, at No. 4 to serve as a developmental backup.
LSU’s Donte Jackson, Tulane’s Parry Nickerson and Ohio State’s Denzel Ward led the final day of the 2018 combine with 4.32-second showings in the 40. If the Eagles are somehow able to add a second or third round pick, Price could be a first round talent that the Eagles wouldn’t need to play immediately. One thing is for sure on Shaq – he certainly became a household name after his Combine performance.
Brugler: Too many to count.
While many stood out, here are six players who could look great in midnight green in 2018. His 5.85-second 40-yard dash would be the second-worst of any player ever drafted and the fifth-slowest of all players since 2003.
It was time for the pass rushers, defensive linemen and linebackers to strut their stuff.
It’s hard to not be excited after watching Griffin run a 4.38 40-yard dash.
The only factor that really determines Barkley’s true worth is where he gets drafted (which makes my job easy!).
By far the biggest story to come out of the Combine was the performance from Central Florida linebacker Shaquem Griffin. He also managed 20 reps of 225 pounds on the bench press the previous day.
Even more impressive, he did it all with just one hand.
