No. 1 Oklahoma beats No. 13 Baylor

The No. 1-ranked Oklahoma Sooners and No. 13 Baylor Bears are set to do battle on the hardwood Saturday afternoon, and Bleacher Report will bring you all the live action from the Ferrell Center in Waco, Texas.

The Sooners’ snapped Baylor’s five-game winning streak in Big 12 play and bumped the Bears (15-4, 5-2) from their brief perch atop the conference standings.

The four-time defending Big 12 champions return four of the seven Sooners that earned All-Big 12 honors last season, including Paige Parker, who was Big 12 Freshman of the Year and Big 12 Pitcher of the Year.

The Sooners are coming off a loss to 19th ranked Iowa State and now they must beat a tough Bears squad that is riding a 15-game winning streak at home.

Hield is averaging a team-high 26.1 points per game while ranking among the nation’s leaders in the same category.

Even with Baylor switching defenses, Oklahoma matched a season high with 16 3-pointers, had 29 assists on 31 field goals and never trailed after that half-ending run when Jordan Woodard scored 15 points of his 20 points. Baylor also lost the Big 12 opener against Kansas in blowout fashion and the Bears have since won five straight and are looking to race into first.

Oklahoma: The Sooners had at least 10 3-pointers for the 12th time this season…. The Sooners were the first No. 1 team to visit Waco since Kansas on January 11, 1997.

The second of OU’s two hard road tests this week as the Sooners head down to Waco to take on what looks to be a quality Baylor squad.

Oklahoma jumped out to a 12-6 lead and did not allow another point in the first quarter to build a 24-point lead.

LUBBOCK, Texas – Tarik Phillip scored seven of his 20 points in the final minute as West Virginia rallied late and held off Texas Tech.

Baylor is at Oklahoma State on Wednesday night.
