After a mega unveil at this MWC in Barcelona, HMD Global-led Nokia has unveiled its 2018 lineup of smartphones in India – the Nokia 6 (2018), Nokia 7 Plus and Nokia 8 Sirocco. After launching the Nokia 2, Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 a year ago, the company has now launched four new Android smartphones that were announced just last month, during Mobile World Congress 2018.
At the launch event, HMD Global CMO, Pekka Rantala said that software was their priority and that Nokia smartphones will always feature the latest updates.
Nokia 8 Sirocco comes with 5.5-inch edge-to-edge pOLED 2K display with smaller bezels and moulded body curves. Nokia 6 (2018), Nokia 7 Plus and Nokia 8 Sirocco all are part of the Android One programme and run on Android 8.0 Oreo operating system.
The Nokia 7 Plus sports a 6-inch (2160 × 1080 pixels) Full HD+ 2.5D curved glass displa with an aspect ratio of 18:9 having Corning Gorilla glass 3 protection.
Is there more to Nokia 6 (2018), Nokia 7 Plus, and Nokia 8 Sirocco than just nostalgia?
Nokia 8 Sirocco with availability from the 30th April. Pre-booking of both the devices will start from April 20. This phone will be available for sale from April 30th. Overall the device feels bold and Nokia claims to have built the device from a single block of aluminum for extra durability.
Anyways though, there’s also a 16 MP camera on the front for those who are into selfies and video calls, and yes, this one also comes equipped with ZEISS optics like the rear cameras.
Nokia 6 2018 Android One runs on Android 8 Oreo. Juicing up the smartphone is a 3000-mAh battery with support for fast charging. There is 16 MP auto focus rear camera with LED flash light and f/2.0 aperture. The device will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, coupled with 8GB RAM and 256GB of internal storage. It was a good effort, it has good core values as per product building, but it wasn’t something that could take on the likes of the Xiaomi’s Honor’s and Oppo’s of this world who basically have taken over the Indian market. It comes with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage that can be expandable up to 128GB.
There is also no information as to other key specs of the feature phone. Although you don’t necessarily need to use that since the Nokia 7 Plus also has a face unlock option. HMD is being more sensible this time around, with the Nokia 6 2018 powered by the Snapdragon 630. The Nokia 7 Plus supports two SIM cards as well and rocks a USB Type-C port.
Among 10 analysts covering Nokia Corp (NYSE:NOK), 3 have Buy rating, 0 Sell and 7 Hold. The phone will be available via Flipkart, Nokia mobile shop, and offline retail stores.
Moving on to imaging, the Nokia 7 Plus has a 12MP + 13MP dual-camera setup with ZEISS optics and 2x optical zoom. It packs in a 6-inch screen and at 158.3mm x 75.6mm looks as big as the Honor V10, which also comes with a 6-inch screen. Similar to the Nokia 6 (2018), Airtel is offering a cashback of up to Rs.2,000 on the Nokia 7 Plus under the “Mera Pehla Smartphone” initiative, along with an extended Airtel TV app subscription. The cameras include 16mp for rear and 8mp in front.
