McCrory said in a news conference in Raleigh on Tuesday that flooding is expected to create big problems for the rest of this week in Greenville, Rocky Mount and Goldsboro. Recovery efforts from the storm continue.
Overall, Matthew has killed 38 people across Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina and Virginia, according to authorities. The minimum-security facility for male inmates is near where the Little and Neuse rivers meet.

The greatest threat remains inland flooding that will continue into this week in central and eastern North Carolina.
McCrory said an additional three counties have been added to the federal disaster declaration that will help local and state governments augment the costs of responding to the disaster and pay for storm debris removal. “Some of these people have nothing”. Next to them were a few items she salvaged from her husband’s truck: a picture of him standing near a fire truck, another one of him in the military, and his high school diploma.
McCrory said this afternoon that the city of Princeville is completely underwater and potentially is in the worst condition in the state.
More than 125 people have been rescued in Wayne County. All the dogs were saved and taken to a shelter, where they awaited their owners. “We’re getting blankets for our folks at the shelters”.
“People who have no idea what their life will be like today, tomorrow, next week, even next month or year”.
“We saw the best of North Carolina on our tour of Robeson County”, McCrory said.
Investigators said the confrontation happened Monday night when two Robeson County sheriff’s deputies and Hinson were rescuing people on West Fifth Street in Lumberton.
“So far, we’ve not heard of any hog waste lagoons breaching as a result of the storm”, Long said.
Matthew threatened other animals, too. “(We’re) hearing 50 to 60 people are refusing the evacuation order.
Other media are reporting a much higher death toll in Haiti.
Johnston County Emergency Management Coordinator Kevin Madsen told the News & Observer that bends in the Neuse River are particularly susceptible to flooding.
Moore said in an interview state agencies already had available funds to address recovery needs and could be reimbursed for any shortfalls through the savings reserve during the 2017 work session. His body was recovered in the past 24 hours, officials said.
There have been 33 deaths across North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida and Georgia due to the storm.

North Carolina Gov. Pat McCrory says 55,000 customers still have no electricity, but that’s down from almost 900,000 at the height of Hurricane Matthew. That’s down from about 400,000 late Monday and down from the total of about 850,000 customers who lost power during last weekend’s storm.
Oxendine, who is originally from Lumberton, said the town’s resilience and the support it has received have been inspiring. They might be sent back there, Blomenkamp said. “I’m looking forward to the waves you will provide in the morning”.
But he has been heartened by the response of his community. “But citizens have been unbelievable”.
