Now Olly Murs has wrapped up his time on The X Factor

It has been speculated that Olly was given the chance to “walk before he was pushed”. Olly always said he would never present the show without Caroline.

In an interview with The Sun, Murs, 31, admitted that while he enjoyed presenting the series, his music suffered while also trying to juggle hosting the live shows.

ITV have said: “Details for the new series of The X Factor are still being discussed and will be announced in due course”.

This news comes after his co-host Caroline Flack was axed and judge Nick Grimshaw quit the show.

‘He loved working on last year’s series alongside Rita, Cheryl and Simon but it was very much a once in a lifetime experience.

Richard Holloway, interim chief executive at FremantleMedia UK – the production company behind The X Factor – paid tribute to the pair’s time on the show.

Producers are anxious to sign One Direction star Louis Tomlinson in place of Grimshaw – however Simon Cowell is pushing for the return of Mayo man Louis Walsh.

Grimmy addressed his decision to step down on his breakfast show on Friday.

As well as hosting The X Factor with Olly, Caroline previously hosted its spin-off show The Xtra Factor for three years from 2011 until 2013. We actually think she’s a good presenter!

Audience numbers averaged 8.2 million, with 8.4 million tuning in to watch the December final – significantly down on the programme’s heyday.

The talent show hit its lowest ratings ever during its most recent series, and with ITV acquiring the TV rights to The Voice show bosses are under vast pressure to make this year’s series a ratings victor.

So, would Caroline continue without her close friend and co-host?
