County board of elections offices across North Carolina have scheduled more than 42,400 total hours of early voting for the 2016 general election, a 16 percent increase over 2012.
The tally on Thursday was 140 early voters.
Ballots applications also may be picked up at local election board offices.

The Hays County Elections Office has been advised that some completed and mailed ballots-by-mail have been returned to voters due to what is believed to be a processing issue at post offices in some areas of the County.
There were 1,504 ballots cast Monday at Coweta’s two early-voting locations. That’s when early voting ends.
“They have tamper-evident seals so that we would be able to detect if someone tried to alter the count or anything else in that process”, he said. Another way to think of this is as “excused early voting“.
We remain optimistic that voters will have enough patience and resolve to endure these challenges and make their voices heard in November.
Voters may also submit their ballot via mail prior to election day. Early voting in Tennessee begins October 19.
Hours are 8:30 a.m.to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. It must arrive at the Clerk’s Office by 7 p.m. November 8 to be counted. “The county election board must mail the ballots to the voter and the voter must return the voted ballots by mail“. Have your photo ids ready. An application for an advanced ballot for someone who is sick/disabled/illiterate may be filed during the regular advanced ballot application period until the close of polls on election day.
And in SC, election officials have asked local law enforcement to increase patrols near voting locations while being careful not to oversaturate the area and intimidate voters. According to RockTheVote, “If you receive mail in a Post Office box you can sign an affidavit (or, in some cases, get a letter from your college’s Residential Life office) asserting that you live at your dorm address”.
