OJ Simpson robbery victim to testify in favor of Simpson’s parole

July 20 08:45 2017

On July 20, Simpson will appear in front of the Nevada Parole Board in Carson City, Nevada, remotely via video conference from Lovelock Correctional Center in Lovelock.

If Simpson is granted parole, his earliest possible release date is October 1.

Last month, his sister, Shirley Baker, told Inside Edition that she was optimistic her brother would earn his release almost 10 years after being found guilty of the armed robbery and kidnapping.

The hearing is unrelated to the 1994 killing of Simpson’s ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend Ron Goldman, of which he was acquitted in 1995.

Life was not necessarily bad for Simpson in there, as it sounds like he got some preferential treatment from guards and inmates alike.

But, LaVergne seems to have better chances of success on Thursday. Simpson will appear via video conference from two hours away at Lovelock Correctional Center, the isolated medium-security facility northeast of Reno that he has called home for almost nine years, to answer commissioners’ questions.

“He deserves parole. It’s as simple as that”, says Yale Galanter, one of Simpson’s defense attorneys in the armed robbery case.

Now 70, Simpson is expected to speak at his parole hearing Thursday, which will be streamed live to the public.

OJ Simpson.Ethan Miller/APImprisoned former football star O.J. Simpson has a parole hearing set for Thursday at 1 p.m. EST – and it has big implications.

Simpson is expected to make the case that he has been a model prisoner, receiving no demerits in the time he has been incarcerated.

If Simpson is allowed out of prison, both Nevada and Florida officials will have to approve his plans to move to Florida. The Nevada jury found Simpson guilty of not just kidnapping, but also armed robbery and assault with a deadly weapon.

What channel is the OJ Simpson parole hearing on? “His freedom is on the line”.

Fox News’ Gerald Rivera, who covered the Simpson criminal and civil trials in the 1990s, said on Fox News’ “The Five” he believes Simpson will walk because the sentence was excessive.

The hearing also comes just one year after ESPN documentary OJ: Made in America and FX miniseries The People v OJ Simpson: American Crime Story.

Should Simpson again be judged a low risk, the board still has the latitude to deny him parole. If they can’t, two other members will review the case from another place until four commissioners agree on a decision.

OJ Simpson should learn Thursday if he’ll be freed from prison after spending nearly a decade behind bars for a Las Vegas hotel robbery.

Fromong says he and Simpson became close friends in the early 1990s and worked on memorabilia deals together.
