Oklahoma grad Trevor Knight to play QB for Texas A&M

January 05 01:53 2016

USA Today reports Monday evening OU quarterback Trevor Knight is going to transfer to the Aggies where he will be immediately eligible to play in the 2016 season since he will be a graduate transfer.

Knight spent the previous three seasons with the Sooners, racking up a total of 3,424 passing yards and 25 touchdown passes.

He couldn’t build on that performance in 2014 and was inconsistent and later injured. This year Knight made six game appearances.

“I appreciate the opportunity Coach Sumlin and his staff have afforded me and I look forward to making my previous year of eligibility a memorable one”, Knight said.

Knight had also reportedly considered Auburn, LSU and Kansas State as potential transfer options.

Knight is expected to join the Aggies this month. With Spavital, 30, calling plays, the offense struggled this season, finishing 10th in the SEC in scoring offense and struggling with consistency and red zone efficiency. “Gig ’em!” Knight said. The Aggies need help at quarterback after the transfers of five-star prospects Kyler Murray and Kyle Allen. He started for the Aggies in the Music City Bowl loss to Louisville, completing 28-of-48 passes for 307 yards, two touchdowns and an interception.
