Oklahoma WR Westbrook leaves game after taking hard hit

The win was Oklahoma’s second consecutive in the Bedlam series and gave the Sooners the first flawless record in Big 12 play since Texas in 2009. Even more importantly, after the game he officially announced that he will return to Oklahoma next season. There aren’t any selfish players on the field, and I would fully expect them to play that way Saturday. But we are Big 12 Champs again.

Although Perine was a force in the third quarter, he left the game with an injury early in the fourth after losing a fumble at the OSU 18. The Sooners looked like they might run the clock out to end the first half, but Samaje Perine broke off a good run, and OU saw a chance to score.

Mayfield scrambled and found Westbrook for a 69-yard touchdown on the first play of the second quarter. “We were not having the best of luck throwing the ball downfield accurately”, Gundy said. “At 6’0” and 175 pounds, Westbrook has speed, elusiveness and fine hands, and has become one of the top big-play receivers in the nation.
