Osweiler booed early, cheered late as Texans rally for win

Unfortunately, nearly two thirds of their fans had given up hope and abandoned ship and didn’t get to see the late fireworks.

Osweiler rode his $72 million arm and completed 25 of 39 passes, including 11 of 13 on the Texans’ final two drives in regulation that ended with touchdown passes to Lamar Miller and C.J. Fiedorowicz. They also opened up overtime with the ball but failed to move very far down field and were forced to punt, sending the game into sudden death.

Miller praised the play of his offensive line throughout his postgame media session, but his left tackle Duane Brown praised the back for his ability to carry the offense on Sunday.

Some things we learned from Houston’s overtime win against Indianapolis.

It took less than five minutes for Indianapolis Colts coach Chuck Pagano to further the narrative that he is not a good defensive coach.

The Texans needed a clutch play as Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck was threatening to extend his advantage in the first half. The highlight of his night was a brilliant cutback touchdown catch-and-run, on which he evaded three Colts defenders who had closed in on him and cut Indy’s lead to seven late in the game.

Novak made both of his field goal attempts (27 & 33) and connected on two-of-three extra point tries.

Miller wound up weaving through essentially the entire Indianapolis defense en route to the end zone.

On the offense, Houston is averaging 16.4 points and 310.4 yards per game. The drive took 5:13 and was 10 plays covering 82 yards.

The Texans defense started the second half strong, holding Luck to 0 yards on his first drive and forcing a 3 and out.

That set up the Houston heroics and the unlikely win.

However, on a day when a report surfaced that he and O’Brien clashed during game preparation last week, Osweiler found a measure of redemption. Boy, what a comeback!
