Owens, Zayn, Charlotte move to Smackdown Live

The first half of the Superstar Shakeup on Monday night left many wondering if SmackDown would have anyone left to carry Tuesdays.

In the meantime, WWE is also treating fans to a feud they’ve never seen before, AJ Styles vs Kevin Owens. Speaking of Nakamura, he made his long awaited debut on the main roster following ‘Mania. Who exactly is going to challenge Orton when Wyatt is gone. or are they about to put the universal and WWE titles on Raw? He can have runs with mid-level guys like Apollo Crews and the obvious one in Mojo Rawley, before anyone decides whether he can ascend to the Dean Ambrose-type competition. Lana has been working in NXT from time to time and has mentioned going after the title in interviews, so it’s possible we could see her in the ring very soon. The switches were obvious but instantly changes up the respective midcards.

The developmental brand of WWE, which has become insanely popular with wrestling geekdom in recent years, will be putting on a live event at Comerica Theatre on Thursday, May 4.

After that, though, the prospect of Wyatt vs. former protégé Braun Strowman, Finn Balor, Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns and potentially re-engaging with Dean Ambrose has intriguing possibilities. But based on where the two superstars are right now, it’s hard to not give the slight nod toward The Miz, and RAW.

Here’s one potential snag that the Superstar Shakeup doesn’t address. Sami was another great fit to move to the blue brand, even though he did a heck of a job on Raw since the beginning of the year. Charlotte also served as a bit of a roadblock in the monster push Nia Jax is getting.

The Smackdown tag team titles were the only titles in the company not defended at WrestleMania, which is a barometer of the state of the division. I understand why this is being done – it’s nice to change things up once in a while. We got a lot of new arrivals that we were expecting, and few we weren’t. It seems like the influence of Triple H’s new era is making itself known.
