Packers lose Eddie Lacy to Seahawks

March 15 08:52 2017

With Lacy off the board, the other three high-profile backs have visits scheduled throughout the week. Lacy met with three teams during this past week before signing with Seattle, and weighed in at 267 pounds for one of those teams, according to Packers writer Bob McGinn.

The Seattle Seahawks love to run through defenses.

In addition to the Green Bay Packers rumors, teams like the Oakland Raiders and New England Patriots have also been linked to Peterson this offseason. After Lynch walked away before last season, the Seahawks struggled to find a consistent running attack, partially due to their inferior offensive line. “Those are some pretty good years (Peterson had under Bevell)”. A four-time Pro Bowl selection while with the Chiefs, Charles rushed for over 1,000 yards on five different occasions, with the last coming in 2014.

Nonetheless, it looks like the Seahawks are ready to take a chance on Lacy.

There will be competition to see which running back the Seahawks might sign.

Don’t pencil Weezy in as the starter just yet: NFL.com is also reporting that Jamaal Charles is still visiting the ‘Hawks this weekend.

All along, the Packers seemed to be interested in Lacy returning so he could team up with Ty Montgomery to form a physical duo. The Raiders are likely losing Latavius Murray in free agency, and the Patriots are always looking to add veteran players at a discount. The Seahawks were not great, but their 1.37 yards before contact is much more appealing. The entire universe knew he wasn’t going to get eight figures in 2017, but seeing Lacy come off the market first among top-level running backs and end up with just $3 million had to make him flinch.

Lacy has had plenty of big games against the Vikings.

Peterson is a free agent for the first time since he entered the National Football League in 2007.

That said, they’ll probably need to sign a veteran running back at some point with Jerick McKinnon now the only one on the roster of significance.
