September 18 23:00 2016

Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Friday said he would emphatically highlight Kashmir issue at the upcoming session of United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in NY. He will also urge the world community to support Pakistan for resolving Kashmir dispute.

The Prime Minister will have a very hectic schedule in NY.

The Indian state oppression and human rights abuses has drawn significant worldwide attention, especially after Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif wrote two letters to the UN Secretary-General demanding action to implement UN Security Council resolutions and immediate end of grave human rights abuses by Indian occupation forces in the occupied territory. He assured that “oppression is destined to end, and truth will prevail” as he referred to the growing violence in the IOK which since the killing of a popular freedom fighter Burhan Wani on July 8.

Nawaz said the Kashmiris’ demand for their right to self-determination is just, which has also been acknowledged by the worldwide community.

Pakistan called for the Kashmiris to be allowed to “freely decide their future through the United Nations’ mandated plebiscite”.

Nawaz said the spirit of freedom struggle of Kashmiris is deeply embedded in his mind and heart and has always enabled him to vociferously advocate and raise the Kashmir issue at various forums.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will make two other statements at the United Nations meetings on the global refugees crisis. PAK President Sardar Masood Khan and Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider were also present.

“The prime minister has sent special envoys to various world capitals to sensitise them on the extremely inhuman acts of the occupation forces”. Sharif is likely to deliver a speech at the UN General Assembly session on September 21. The interactive session with Kashmiri leaders was productive as they also gave their proposals in black and white, which would surely serve as talking points for the Prime Minister during his engagements on the occasion of UNGA session. Vowing to continue the war on militancy and terror, Nawaz expressed his satisfaction over the country’s overall security situation, the spokesman added. Instead, New Delhi runs away from bilateral talks with Pakistan citing the excuse of Pakistani envoy in India meeting APHC leadership.
