Pakistan single country exhibition 2016 upcoming in Sri Lanka

Colombo, Jan.6: Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif have announced the inauguration of “Pakistan Single Country Exhibition 2016” to explore business potential between the two countries. Pakistan Prime Minister requested the service of Sri Lanka cricket Coaches for the Pakistan cricket team to further develop their team.

“My government is willing to provide duty free and quota free access to large number of priority products of Sri Lankan exports to Pakistan”.

Prime Minister Sharif said that Pakistan had embarked upon the journey to prosperity after his government took solid steps for strengthening the economy and ensuring peace in the country.

Both Nawaz Sharif and Wikremesinghe are seen as playing for the U.S. agenda in the region, but they have strategic understanding with China as well, political observers said.

His remarks came about an year after the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) in March agreed for a United States dollars 1.5 billion currency swap agreement with the Sri Lankan Central Bank to help the island nation keep its currency stable. “It is also a grave contravention of the worldwide norm against nuclear testing”, the secretary-general said while taking to reporters at UN Headquarters in NY.

Discussions also held to exchange training programs for higher education and the field of sports between the two countries.

President Maithripala Sirisena deeply valued the enduring aspects of Sri Lanka – Pakistan Defence-related cooperation.

The two leaders acknowledged that culture, based on shared historical and civilizational links as an enduring aspect of the close relationship. Nawaz Sharif and Hon. Mr. Tariq Fatemi, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Lt. Gen. (R) Nasser Khan Janjua, Advisor to the Prime Minister on National Security, Maj. A Pakistan-Sri Lanka friendship anthem prepared by the Pakistan High Commission, Colombo was also launched on the occasion.

An agreement on cooperation in the field of health was signed between the Pakistani government and Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine.
