Palmer, Johnson Lead Cardinals Past Redskins

Heading into this weekend, Washington has had nearly nothing but positive contribution from their tight ends, and fantasy football owners are reaping all the benefits. Tight end Jordan Reed is out (shoulder), but a rejuvenatedVernon Davis could make up for that loss – as he did in two games Reed missed in October with a concussion. “Hats off to coach [Bruce] Arians and the Arizona Cardinals, but I feel we underachieved today and that’s very frustrating”.

GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) – “No risk it, no biscuit” was back for the Arizona Cardinals. With Reed’s injury, Jackson’s re-emergence as a big-play threat will be critical for the Redskins’ playoff aspirations. Back in his hometown, he’s rejuvenated with 31 catches for 450 yards and two touchdowns through 11 games. “I don’t think catching the ball is one of them”.

Vernon Davis will now assume the lion’s share of responsibility at tight end for the 6-4-1 Redskins, who currently hold down that second NFC wild-card slot. The Cardinals then scored a touchdown, taking the lead at 17-13.

The Washington Redskins have gotten through a tough November, which ended with two primetime games in five days. “We’re trying to win the next game, we are not even close to thinking about the playoffs right now”. You’ve got to win.

After the first quarter, the Redskins trail the Cardinals 7-0.

Johnson ranks third in the National Football League with 921 rushing yards, but it’s the variety of ways the Arizona offense uses their second-year running back that makes him so hard to handle for opposing defenses. Edgerrin James was the other.

Johnson carried the ball 18 times for 84 yards and caught nine passes for another 91.

Cousins is better still on the road than he is at home: He has a 103.7 passer rating and has completed 71 percent of his passes in five away games this season.

Fitz has five catches for 59 yards. “It is up and down”. Wide receiver Pierre Garcon, who adds toughness in the slot, could contribute more than he’s typically called upon to do in the Redskins’ pass-heavy offense. “It is hard to give a blanket statement to summarize it”.

Kirk Cousins completed 22 of 40 pass attempts for 236 yards, a touchdown and one pick.

“We came out flat to start the game”, Washington defensive end Chris Baker said.

The offense couldn’t respond, though, after a good first play to start their debut in the game. With his sixth and seventh catches, he moved past Hall of Famers Cris Carter (1,101) and Marvin Harrison (1,102) for third place on the NFL’s all-time receptions list.

“It’s great”, Fitzgerald said.

Washington was without standout tight end Jordan Reed and Arizona didn’t have do-everything defensive back Tyrann Mathieu. Both players were sidelined with shoulder injuries.

Gruden said he hopes that with an extra week of treatment, Reed would be available to play at NFC East rival Philadelphia on December 11. As much as Arians would love to get speedy receivers John Brown and J.J. Nelson more involved in the passing game, each of those two have proven unreliable lately, so expect a healthy dose of throws from Carson Palmer to Larry Fitzgerald and Michael Floyd.
