What’s next: The Patriots have two picks in the second round (43, 63) and one in the third (95) on the second day of the draft Friday.
The New England Patriots have selected Georgia Bulldogs running back Sony Michel with the 31st overall pick of the 2018 NFL Draft.
Commissioner Roger Goodell poses with a fan after the New England Patriots selected Georgia’s Sony Michel during the first round of the NFL football draft, Thursday, April 26, 2018, in Arlington, Texas.
Carr, who had a down season a year ago while returning from fractures in his right pinkie finger and right ankle before suffering three broken bones in his back in Week 4, is still a three-time Pro Bowler. We’re hoping Jackson is one of them. Jackson is a first-round talent in a cornerback-heavy draft, and the Patriots have an obvious need to get younger at the position now that Malcolm Butler is gone.

In his college career, he hauled in 64 passes for 621 yards and six touchdowns in his career.
They had a chance to get former Alabama linebacker Rashaan Evans, who visited the Patriots facility during the pre-draft process.
Wynn was a second team All-American selection and first team All-SEC selection in 2017, for what he did as a left tackle. He’s considered an outstanding route runner and is dynamite in the red zone. Wynn said the Pats did not clue him in on where he’d be used, and with experience at both guard and tackle over his college career, Wynn said he has no preference. His technique needs refining, but the combination of being a quick learner and working with offensive line guru Dante Scarnecchia will solve that problem.
In some mock drafts, Jackson will go from being a member of the Cardinals at the University of Louisville to being a first-round selection in this year’s draft at No. 15 overall with the Arizona Cardinals. He was measured at 6-foot-2 and 216 pounds at the Combine. Hoyer signed a three-year deal the team after the trade deadline last season. He also was a team captain.
