PayPal Backers Ruled Out of Select Shenmue 3 Kickstarter Rewards

Ys Net’s “foremost consideration” was upholding the promise it made during the original campaign, he said, and so it would only be willing to change that position if the majority of its backers supported doing so. There is also a pre-order page – the “Slacker Backer” campaign, to be precise – for those who didn’t back Shenmue 3 already.

In tandem with the breakdown, Ys Net’s official statement on the controversy is as follows: “Considering the strong response from those of you who felt that the Exclusive Rewards should remain exclusive for the Kickstarter, those Exclusive Rewards will not be made available on the PayPal page as originally promised”. “The poll numbers do show that there are also many backers who do not wish to give up their exclusive rewards”, the rep continued.

Others, meanwhile, say they support Ys Net’s decision to handle the campaign how it sees fit. Out of the15,000 of the 68,000 Kickstarter backers who voted, 4,009 people said they did not want to share the Kickstarter rewards with PayPal donators, 4,670 were in favor of sharing the rewards, and 6,432 didn’t care either way. Shenmue 3 is aiming for a late 2017 release on PlayStation 4 and PC. “We hope everyone will continue to let their voices be heard as we go forward with the project”.

Thanks to Shenmue fans everywhere, 2015 saw the start of Shenmue III. This was out of a total of 2121 respondents to the poll question through Twitter, and only 17 people said they were against extending the Exclusive Rewards to the Paypal backers.

This decision isn’t going over well with all backers. The next issue is that the “strong response” the company claims from the polls actually did not happen at all and basically was untruthful when you look at the two polls conducted about the Kickstarter Exclusive Rewards.
