“Mehbooba made it clear at the meeting of the party’s Core Group that she is not in a hurry to form the government or become the chief minister of the state”.
The meeting will be attended by senior party leaders and Parliament members.
The party, whose leaders met for the first time today following the Mufti’s death on January 7, lavished praise on Prime Minister Narendra Modi but left the final call to chief Mehbooba Mufti.
PDP insiders have said that After mourning period, Mehbooba will be able to rule Jammu and Kashmir as right now “She is not in a proper frame of mind”.
“The party deliberated on our score-card during the last 10 months of the PDP-BJP coalition rule and unanimously authorised PDP president Mehbooba Mufti to take a final call on the future of our alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party”, senior PDP leader Naeem Akhtar told reporters after a marathon party meeting here.
However, the party has not released any formal press release so far to confirm the views of Akhtar. However, BJP leaders are aware that Mehbooba will extract more from the Centre and are expecting a list of demands from her before she takes over the mantle of chief minister.
“I don’t know, it is upto them (PDP) to say this”.
Now that Dr Abdullah has expressed his willingness to form government with the BJP, the political analysts term it a shrewd move to instigate the PDP for expediting its power sharing arrangement with the saffron party by renewing alliance, which was reached between BJP high command and Mufti Mohammed Sayeed.
“All this might be heavily weighing on her”, he said.
“We can not take a decision as we don’t have the mandate we are only 14-15 people and 14-15 people can not form the government”. “The people need an elected government and the uncertainty should be ended”.
“All he has said is that if any proposal comes from BJP it will be discussed by Working Committee of the party for a decision”, Omar tweeted.
“PDP sources said that the reassurance can not be given at the level of BJP general secretary Ram Madhav, but must come from either the home minister or the Prime Minister”, claimed the report.
In the 87-member Assembly, BJP has 25 MLAs while its ally Peoples Conference headed by Sajad Gani Lone has two members. If such a situation arises, NC can think it over.
“Asked to comment on his yesterday’s statement that his party’s “doors were open” if BJP leadership approaches him to form the government in the state, he said, he had never said that his party was going with the BJP”.
Mr Abdullah, whose party had earlier been a part of the NDA, said the NC never shies away from playing its role.
