Donald Trump’s running mate Mike Pence announced he will fully endorse Speaker Ryan in the August 9th primary. Kelly Ayotte, saying he stands “shoulder to shoulder” with the Republican presidential candidate. “But there has to come a point at which you say somebody who makes those kinds of statements doesn’t have the judgment, the temperament, the understanding to occupy the most powerful position in the world”. We need very, very strong leadership. “I’m not quite there yet”. “It’s just that simple”, Ryan said in an interview on the “Jerry Bader Show” on WTAQ radio in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
“I’ve never been there with John McCain because I’ve always felt that he should have done a much better job for the vets”, he said.
Ryan brushed off Trump’s non-endorsement, adding: “The only endorsements I want are those of my own employers here in the First Congressional District, and that’s really what my focus is”. “He strongly encouraged me to endorse Paul Ryan”.
Also Thursday on CBS This Morning, Manafort echoed that Trump would work with the House speaker, saying “there’s no issue about that”. “And we are confident in a victory next week regardless”. Kelli Ward, was not immediately returned Tuesday afternoon.
Nehlen responded to Trump tweeting, “My pleasure, sir”.
Both Ryan and McCain in recent days have sharply criticized Trump over his latest controversy, his disparaging remarks about the Muslim parents of Humayun Khan, a US Army captain who died in the Iraq War. Ryan is in a Republican primary battle with businessman Paul Nehlen, as voters head to the polls on Tuesday. “While our party has bestowed upon him the nomination, it is not accompanied by unfettered license to defame those who are the best among us”, McCain said.
On several occasions in the past week, the in governor has found himself in direct conflict with Trump, taking a different campaign tact or running damage control after one of the Republican presidential nominee’s incendiary remarks.
Trump did not specifically say what McCain could do to better support veterans.
And he hasn’t been shy about criticizing Trump.
Trump turned the tables Tuesday.
“Speaker Ryan’s repeated betrayal of Donald Trump is an act of sabotage against our party and an act of sabotage against our electorate who selected Mr. Trump as our nominee”.
Trump made his declarations in an interview with The Washington Post in which he also lit into New Hampshire GOP Sen. “That’s OK. People don’t understand”. “That’s what this government is about. We had a bounce, we knew that the Democrats would have a bounce”, he told CBS. “Sometimes people forget that”.
