Photos and details of the new Google Glass revealed

A new version of Google Glass has been spotted making its way through the FCC this week revealing what the next generation of Google Glass, aka Project Aura looks like. As you can tell, the device doesn’t look all too different than the previous Google Glass: Explorer Edition, but foldability was one of the previous version’s most-requested features – and now it’s part of the design.

The images of the Google Glass Enterprise Edition were discovered in a recent FCC filing. There were reports of the tech giant developing a new version of Google Glass, but nothing was really officially confirmed.

The report further states that the device will come with Intel Atom processor and improved battery life from its predecessor. Industry watchers are speculating the new model may use a magnet to facilitate the charging of the headset. Google Glass “Enterprise Edition” is on its way to make a mark in a place that had received it positively.

The Google Glass project was one of the most hyped devices that died an early death when Google opted not to turn it into a consumer device.

The original Google Glass became the subject of controversy after privacy concerns emerged over people wearing the devices – which have always-on cameras – in public spaces. In January 2015, Google stopped selling the prototype display and announced that Google Glass would be shifted from its secretive lab to acquire new technologies so that it can have an entirely novel and distinct identity. There’s also a mention of a magnetic external battery.

Ars Technica said that the new Glass will “supposedly only be sold through the “Glass for Work” program, and businesses will be expected to load custom software on the device”. The power button has also been moved to the back of the device; previously it was on the inside of the device in a rather awkward position.
