Photos of the Day: Happy Thanksgiving from the International Space Station

SpaceX, Elon Musk’s favorite hobby, is going back to the International Space Station. On Thanksgiving Day in 2008, the crews of the Endeavor and the International Space Station held a shared dinner in the Russian Zvezda Service Module, according to a NASA mission report. Lindgren expresses his thanks, where he is extremely grateful for the opportunity to live in the wonderful orbiting laboratory as the ISS is also evidence that can lead to great possibilities in space and beyond if nations work together by cooperating, communicating and collaborating together for peaceful means. They said they are thankful for living in a country that provides them with “freedom and opportunity”.

And don’t forget my new book, Breaking the Chains of Gravity, is available now in the United Kingdom and January 12 in the US, Canada, Australia, and India (I think!). The Facebook post said, ‘ It will only take the crew about 15 to 20 minutes to rehydrate their freeze-dried Thanksgiving meal‘. A team of researchers was assembled by NASA, and they went to work designing six different transparent polymer cups for use on the space station.

To conclude the video, Kelly and Lindgren showed their Thanksgiving plate, and taking certain articles of the packaging, Kelly took a bite of candied yams, as Lindgren chewed a piece of smoked turkey.

The quip made Lindgren laugh and he began to guffaw when Kelly sampled the candied yams, squeezing a healthy glob of orange goop out of a clear plastic bag. It is unclear at this time if they will watch football as they chow down on their microgravity fare. They were also given extra time to talk to their families.

“We don’t have much of this stuff”, said Kelly. Kelly will come home after concluding the mission in March, reports Florida Today.

However, have you ever wondered what happens to the astronauts onboard the ISS who are circling the Earth in orbit far away from their family and friends?
