Pick Tunsil still trying to make Dolphins’ first team

I like the pieces we’ve put together. “But I don’t go out much”. However, he praised the work ethic of Laremy Tunsil, who was projected as a top-three pick in the draft. That’s what we’re going to do.

Quarterback Ryan Tannehill will have several friends and family members cheering him on Friday when the Dolphins play in his home state of Texas.

Also in the mix at the guard spots are veterans Dallas Thomas and Billy Turner, who struggled as starters a year ago, and Jermon Bushrod, a converted left tackle.

“It’s football”, Dolphins head coach Adam Gase stated, explaining his view of training camp fights. “Some years, you feel like you need some”. “He cares about what his position coach says, he cares about what his coordinator says and he cares about what the head coach says, and that’s all that matters to him”. “When we get into that bubble, it seems like it gets interesting”. “I think the offensive line is doing really good right now”. “I like the fact that he’s coming out there and giving everything he has”.

For Thomas’ part, he basically said he doesn’t care that Tunsil’s the No. 13 pick. Adding later that “unless I change my mind for some reason, I want to see him get in there with that first group and get him a feel for how they operate”. “But you’ve got your hand in the ground”. However, the last bit of Gase’s comments show that he does have a little desire to see Foster play with the team during game conditions to possibly measure him against current starter Jay Ajayi.

“If I do get that start against Dallas, it would be nice”, Tunsil said.

Gase said Doughty’s next step is “controlling everybody”, correcting mistakes and correcting mental errors by others. “Now it’s about finding the right five. We’re there to get better, take the next step along this process”.
