Playmaker Ozil wants No.10 Arsenal shirt

The No 10 jersey now belongs to Jack Wilshere but the English midfielder is out on loan at Bournemouth for the season.

It was put to Scholes that Wilshere’s move to Bournemouth made sense because it would enable him to play regularly and regain fitness.

In the end, Wilshere’s mind was made up for him when Bournemouth offered the best financial package available to Arsenal – agreeing to pay the £3million loan fee and pay his £80,000-per-week wages in full. However, he hopes that Wilshere’s temporary departure and the fact that he himself is such an integral part of the Arsenal team will convince the management to give the iconic jersey to him. We had a good talk about football, about Bournemouth the place and the football club, thankfully he chose us. It is also reported that Wilshere had discussed with David Beckham before considering the move.

Ljungberg, now a coach at Arsenal, has told the England midfielder what he needs to do while out on loan until the summer and avoiding the treatment table is the top priority. “It can make the players better, because the competition inside the club is always very important to keep the players on their toes”.

The testimonial, which was being played in honour of Cummings’ nine-year service to Bournemouth, was short on chances and the two sides went in at the break goalless.

Hopefully it will inspire us to be better coaches to our players and it will inspire the players onto another level“.

During his entire tenure at Arsenal, Ozil has never worn the number 10 jersey, the kit number traditionally bestowed upon playmakers and William Gallas’s, because a certain English midfielder has held it for since 2012.

Former Arsenal forward Paul Merson has admitted that he was “very surprised” that Arsene Wenger allowed Jack Wilshere to leave the Gunners on a season-long loan on August 31.

But Nasri had shown signs of turning the situation around as he appeared as a substitute against West Ham at the weekend and Guardiola then said he would remain in his thoughts if he stayed.

It remains to be seen though as to what decision the management comes to.
