Pokémon GO Partners Up With Starbucks

December 09 07:45 2016

We know that Sprint has formed a partnership with Niantic, which will add thousands of new gyms across the world, and for the uninitiated, Pokemon Go’s roster now consists of 146 of the original 151 Pokemon. What does that mean for players? Of course not. Mildly disappointing given the lofty prices (near $11 for one grande and one tall) we paid for two small sizes? Yes. With the said partnership, Sprint, Boost Mobile, and Sprint at Radioshack will become PokeStops and Gyms. It is worthy to note that Sprint Stores, will be the first sponsored location throughout the United States. This partnership will make new Pokestops and Gyms.

The first unofficial leak came from a Starbucks employee guide which confirmed that the coffee brand has signed up with Pokemon Go. Other additions are expected to include in-game trading, PvP battles and the ability to raise Pokemon like Tamagotchi. Sounds fun doesn’t it?

Another interesting coincidence, Niantic said today that a big announcement will come on December 12.

Oh, what’s that? Where are those new Pokemon that have been rumored for the last few weeks? It’s highly likely the Gen 2 Pokemon we have been hearing about for quite a while. So once you’re done training in the Starbucks gym, you can go make an appointment at the dentist. The Pokemon Candy earned during the duration of the event was also doubled and it got a positive response from the Pokemon fanbase. Tap on the links below to initiate the download. As per the deal, Sprint would be paying Niantic for its increased store traffic and in return would be the exclusive wireless partner for the game.

Of course, you can avoid all that hullabaloo altogether by, instead, taking your game to the nearest Starbucks (which may be easier to find anyway). If you are feeling daring, then why not indulge yourself in a battle?

“As we race towards 2017, we wanted to take a moment and thank you for your support.” read a blog post just released from John Hanke (head of Niantic) and the Pokémon GO team.
