Police respond to further calls made to schools

February 24 23:44 2016

Police are now in attendance at the six schools following calls which were made to each school of a concerning nature.

Students returned to class Wednesday afternoon, after law enforcement officials gave the all clear.

Bethel High School was evacuated Tuesday as officials searched the school after a bomb threat was discovered, school officials said.

None of the threats have been deemed credible. The school was cleared before 8:45 a.m. Students and staff returned to resume a normal school day.

Both Barnstable High School and Mashpee Middle-High School were evacuated after receiving threats on February 1.

Bomb threats were made to more schools today.

“The priority for police is to ensure the safety of staff and students”.

Mr Fabish took to Facebook to inform parents there was no longer a threat.

“They were fantastic, they responded quickly”.

Mr Fabish said it would be business as usual at school tomorrow.

Today’s calls may be linked to those received by six schools yesterday – initial inquiries indicate those phone calls originated overseas. Students are gathered on or near the bleachers as they await transportation.

He said that the threat, which also went out to high schools in Arlington, Boston, Brockton, Lawrence, and Newton, sent the school into it’s shelter-in-place protocol.

“Police are aware of very similar incidents occurring overseas such as Australia and the United States”.

“These have involved recorded voice messaged being directed towards schools in these countries”.

The bomb threats are reported by the NZ Herald.
