President Barack Obama on Jerry Seinfeld’s ‘Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee’

Obama has “gotten off just enough amusing lines to get on this show”, Seinfeld said in the episode.

The full episode, which Crackle has graciously allowed us to feature below, breaks with some of the traditions of Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee. Seinfeld asked, dubious of the President’s routine.

“Shave, then work out?” And suddenly I say, ‘Hey Jerry, how ya doin?’. “I can’t take it, I know”.

He revealed to Seinfeld that all of his underwear was one brand and one colour and he has a closet like normal people. “You’re looking around, thinking, what the hell is this?”

“It’s a problem”, Obama deadpans.

“Little kids love saying my name, but it’s all one big name”.

“This is called ‘The Beast, ‘ basically a caddy on a tank frame”, Obama said of his limo. “Could you imagine that?” he says.

However, when it comes to a spirited ride with Obama, it’s not that easy getting off the grounds of the White House.

“It’s not like a hotel room”.

Seinfeld asks the president if he believes some world leaders are “completely out of their minds”.

“A pretty sizable percentage”, Obama answered, continuing what Comedy Central late-night host Larry Wilmore has dubbed Obama’s “Doesn’t Give a F•ck” year in office.

He added: “At a certain point your feet hurt and you’re having trouble peeing and you have absolute power”.

At the end of their visit, Seinfeld lets the president behind the wheel of the Stingray – affixed with a bumper sticker that reads “My other auto is a 5-ton, bulletproof limousine” – something Obama calls a “childhood dream”.

Making himself as at home as Kramer on Jerry’s couch during an episode of “Seinfeld“, Jerry started munching on one of the glistening apples always on display in a fruit bowl. When you have it, “anonymity isn’t something you think about”, Obama says, but Seinfeld counters: “With all due respect, I remember very well not being famous”. You don’t have that do you? “Plus it has seat warmers”.

Of course there was a plug for Obamacare, which the President promoted on almost all his TV appearances.
