To kick off the seventh season of “Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee” with Jerry Seinfeld, the President himself hops in the passenger seat of a 1963 Corvette Stingray split window coupe.
The best part happens at the end of the show when Obama fulfills a childhood dream by taking his turn behind the wheel of the classic auto. “You’ll just be chatting and you look in the eyes and go, “Oh, this guy’s gone”, said Seinfeld. Once inside, the President claims he can call a nuclear sub from the back seat, and it has seat warmers.
Despite the current issues, global problems, and other complicated matters that President Barack Obama has to face and address at present, he showed his funnier side as he boarded a 1963 Corvette with Jerry Seinfeld.
Seinfeld; “No, because you and I don’t talk that much.” .
Still, Seinfeld was able to sneak into an official (but stationary) Presidential limousine before he and the POTUS retired to a small in-house cafe for freshly brewed mud and chit chat.
“It’s a Caddy, basically on a tank frame”, he says.
The two cruised through the White House property, take the time to inspect Obama’s executive vehicle, and then walk into the White House to drink some brew and talk various topics including world leaders, underwear and football. “Are these washed?” Seinfeld asks.
While Obama said he treasures anonymity, Seinfeld quipped: “I remember not being famous; it wasn’t that great”.
After Seinfeld is denied permission to take the president out for coffee by the Secret Service, the two instead drive around the south lawn of the White House for a few moments. You hit the line, you get one yard, you try and play, you get sacked. Seinfeld asked Obama at one point.
Obama said that as a child, his favorite president was Theodore Roosevelt, whom he described as a “cool character” and someone who would be “most fun to hang out with”.
