In the video, Obama and Seinfeld drive around in a attractive 1963 Corvette Stingray, then later they sit for a bit in the President’s auto, then in the White House.
Obama has “gotten off just enough amusing lines to get on this show”, Seinfeld said in the episode that hit the web late on Wednesday. When Seinfeld tries driving, a guard tells him, “You’re a comedian in a auto going nowhere”. Instead, they mosey along the White House grounds, don’t wear their seatbelts-thanks for the tip, Obama-and even drive over the grass at a few angles.
And so we discover that the Obama-Seinfeld comedy duo isn’t quite as amusing as the Bill Gates-Seinfeld duo in some much-lamented ads (by me) that Microsoft ran some years ago.
While Obama said he treasures anonymity, Seinfeld quipped: “I remember not being famous; it wasn’t that great”. And in a post-credits clip, Obama is shown telling a Secret Service guard not to shoot Seinfeld in the process.
Disrupt Your Feed: I can’t think of another president in history who I’d rather have a beer with Obama.
Obama also shows off his presidential limousine, which he calls “The Beast” – “a Caddy basically on a tank frame”.
“That’s a lot of messages when you get back”, Seinfeld shot back.
“A pretty sizable percentage”, Obama says.
The 20-minute show, which is streamed by Crackle, features Seinfeld chatting informally with a guest.
