President Trump wraps Mideast trip after Bethlehem, Jerusalem meetings

Trump, for his part, stressed the need to forge a historic peace deal, without mentioning any reference to the two-state solution or to an independent Palestinian state.

Diana Buttu, a Palestinian lawyer and former adviser to the Palestine Liberation Organisation, says Trump’s comments about striving for a negotiated solution between Israel and the Palestinians are not promising.

“I am truly hopeful that American can help Israel and the Palestinians forge peace and bring new hope to the region and its people”, the US president said. “This is the time, 50 years on from the Six Day War, to shake off the heavy burden of millions of Palestinians and ensure the continued existence of the State of Israel as a Jewish and democratic state and homeland of the Jewish people for generations”, he stated, vowing his party’s political support for peace talks.

He also commended the importance of the holding of the Arab-Islamic-American Summit in the Saudi capital on Sunday.

That is a very mild demand, which may, if accepted, facilitate the resumption of negotiations with the Palestinians, but it will not address the major colonisation issue which left more than half of the West Bank showered with illegal Israeli settlement inhabited by no less than 600,000 Jewish settlers. He gushed with praise for Israel and, by standing in silent contemplation at the Western Wall, signalled his deep respect for Jewish tradition and the Jewish bond to Jerusalem.

During a ceremony to mark the 50th anniversary of the Six Day War, Netanyahu emphasized the importance of USA aid to Israel maintaining military dominance in the region. The problem is not between us and Judaism.

Sutton said he thought Trump had made a positive impression on both Netanyahu and Saudi Arabian leader King Salman.

Dozens of concert goers were given shelter at a nearby hotel, including unaccompanied children, but messages on social media suggested as many as eight people were still unaccounted for, several of them teens.

It would keep the Netanyahu government in power, Shai said.

He checked out the Western Wall, Yad Vashem and the Israel Museum, and he met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Israeli President Reuven Rivlin and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas.

“I extend my deepest condolences to those so terribly injured in this terrorist attack and to the many killed and the families – so many families of the victims”. Israel claims it but the Palestinians insist that they want the wall to be included in any final peace talks. President Abbas assures me he is ready to work toward that goal in good faith.

The video appears to show Trump push aside the Prime Minister of Montenegro, Dusko Markovic.

The trip also managed to produce plenty of awkward moments involving Trump and his administration – there were some unfortunate typos, a failed attempt at holding the first lady’s hand (which went viral) and two geographic flubs.

Trump also called for “all civilized nations” to come together to obliterate “this wicked ideology” and “protect human life”. This at a time when the two sides are as far from a deal as they have ever been since 1993, when they first began negotiating.

Netanyahu says he hopes Trump visit will be 'milestone' for peace
