The Prime Minister agreed to this proposal and directed for introducing the regime from first July this year. Our meetings with the Qatari leadership were fruitful.

Rejecting the government’s claim of striking the cheapest deal with Qatar, he said the prices of LNG would go up when the petroleum products prices increase in the worldwide market.

Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and industry (FPCCI) president Abdul Rauf Alam said that the deal would save the country $1 billion annually while a further $600 million could be saved in diesel costs for power generators. He was appreciative of the government of Qatar for providing the gas at very competitive rates to Pakistan.

On the second day of his visit today, the Pakistani PM is scheduled to meet and interact with prominent members of the Pakistani diaspora and businesspersons living in Qatar.

Speaking in Radio Pakistan’s programme, PML-N leader Maiza Hameed said: “Pakistan has signed LNG agreement with Qatar and this agreement has been signed on lowest price in the world”.

PML-N Traders Wing general secretary Shahid Nazir said that China Pakistan Economic Corridor is a big breakthrough and its early completion would ensure progress and prosperity in the country and would connect the country to the Central Asian States. “Pakistan gives great importance to its ties with Qatar”.

He said the security situation in country had improved after the Zarb-e-Azb operation, which he said had broken the back of terrorists and said the operation would be taken to its logical conclusion. A delegation from Nebras Power, an investment company in power sector, working under the overall umbrella of Qatar Investment, conducted due diligence in Pakistan in September 2015 in connection with LNG based power projects.

“We have limited resources so we have to set priorities for our development projects”. He also mentioned the demonstration of JF-17 aircraft in Doha and said he was proud that his government played its part in the initiation of the project and its successful completion. “Once again, we have started to build another motorway from Karachi to Lahore”, he said.

Later, the Emir hosted a luncheon banquet in the honour of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and the delegation accompanying him.
