QB Hornibrook available for Big Ten title game

No one truly knows what would happen if Clemson falls to Virginia Tech, but it seems like everyone has an opinion on Michigan’s fate.

The SEC Championship game between Alabama and Florida will kick off on CBS at 3:00 PM Central time.

Big Ten: If Wisconsin wins, it would be much easier for the selection committee to put in Ohio State over the Big Ten champs because the Buckeyes beat Wisconsin in Madison during the regular season. That would leave one spot up for grabs, and another Big Ten team that will finish the year without a conference championship, Michigan, is certainly still in the mix.

The college playoffs are a month away, and this weekend we have the conference championships that should be a forerunner to the final four. Four teams get picked.

On the defensive side of the ball, the Nittany Lions are allowing 22.8 points per game, and, by taking out the MI game where six defensive starters were sidelined with injuries, Penn State would only be allowing 19.09 points per game. I can see a case for Wisconsin.

The pressure Wisconsin’s defense has been able to create this season has been impressive.

And Western Michigan is undefeated and yearning to play another Power 5 conference opponent anytime, anyplace but will not get the opportunity in the playoffs. Good work by them. Ask Oregon and Michigan State.

Oddsmakers don’t believe the Gators have much of a chance, and are spotting them 24 points. The Nittany Lions have not lost since and Happy Valley is happier than it’s been with its football team in the five years since a scandal shook the program and the school. If Hornibrook plays, Chryst will likely use his starter and backup Bart Houston. Establishing the running game early will help set up their passing game in the second half.

The Penn State Nittany Lions are 8-0 straight up and 7-0-1 against the spread over their last eight games. Wisconsin has only allowed over 20 points all year one time and that was to Ohio State in a game that went to overtime. Both teams also share a common loss to Ohio State, but with Michigan’s second loss to unranked Iowa being significantly more detrimental to their chances this should ensure they bypass the number 5 ranking.

And now with College Football Playoff bids on the line, no one will hear the end of that play. The red zone has plagued Wisconsin’s offense for a majority of the season but the Badgers have gone 17-for-17 over the last three games. Though the Nittany Lions beat Ohio State in October and handed the Buckeyes their only loss of the season, the Big Ten victor isn’t likely to land in the final four unless an earlier upset occurs. Furthermore, they were champions of the Big Ten.

Everything points to Ohio State, ranked No. 2 behind Alabama in this week’s College Playoff standings, being the surest thing after the Crimson Tide to get to the playoff. The Badgers held all three under their final scoring average.

The Nittany Lions sophomore quarterback will need to continue to be careful with the ball against a Badgers defense that led the Big Ten in interceptions (21) this season. In four of his last five games McSorley has completed a pass of at least 42 yards and has five completions of 50 yards or more. In between, the games have been mostly blowouts.

Take a step back from the daily dissections of Ohio State’s sometimes bumpy path to this point. They also scored four rushing touchdowns. Needless to say, this game has huge playoff implications. This game is pretty important to a lot of teams.
