Quick recap, Foster Farms Bowl: No

December 29 07:31 2016

Redding is the fourth player in school history to rush for at least 1,000 yards in back-to-back seasons.

The University of Utah Utes representing the Pac-12 Conference will duke it out Wednesday evening with the Hoosiers from Indiana University and the Big Ten Conference at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara during the Foster Farms Bowl.

Since Kyle Whittingham has been the head coach for the Utah Utes, dating back to the 2005 Fiesta Bowl, the Utes have posted a 9-1 record in bowl games. The result made a loser of Indiana’s Tom Allen in his first game as a head coach.

The Hoosiers have a potentially potent offense led by quarterback Richard Lagow. Huntley finished with 23 yards on eight carries with the touchdown.

Williams’ play in the fourth quarter was particularly big, as he put the offense on his shoulders when Utah got down late. Whittingham stepped in and led the Utes to a 35-7 win over Pittsburgh. IN committed three turnovers.

The third quarter was certainly quieter, with only a pair of Utah field goals on the scoreboard to give the Pac-12 squad a 23-17 advantage. A Zack Moss fumble gave the ball back to IN, which used the momentum to move down the field on a drive that featured multiple key third-down conversions.

Junior kicker Griffin Oakes missed a 40-yard field goal wide right in the lead up to Utah’s go-ahead drive.

Whittingham was frustrated with his team’s play at the end of the first half. Key play: IU’s Greg Gooch’s forced fumble on opening kickoff recovered by IU’s Donavan Hale at Utah 11.

IN ranked 25th in the nation in passing yards per game with 277.9. Just 52 seconds into the game, IN led 7-0. The Utes eventually had to settle for a field goal to make the score 7-3.

According to multiple reports, Wilson’s treatment of his players led to his departure less than a year after he had been given a six-year, $15.3 million contract for getting the Hoosiers to a bowl game for the first time since 2008. Utah will throw all sorts of exotic packages in the front seven at him and blitz often to try and disrupt him.

Not all of the kicks were flawless, in fact this third quarter field goal had so much english on it, a casual observer could have mistaken it for a power fade golf shot from an elevated a par-3 tee box. Two plays after Diamont replaced Lagow at quarterback, Diamont threw his touchdown pass to Nick Westbrook to tie the score.

Oh, and IU hadn’t had a winning season since going 7-6 in 2007. The Hoosiers haven’t won a bowl game since the 1991 Copper Bowl.

Indiana: Allen viewed the preparation and bowl game as the start of his first full season in 2017.
