Raiders ink ’16 deal to stay at Coliseum

During a press conference to announce the Raiders’ one-year lease extension at the Coliseum, Davis accused the A’s of dragging their feet when addressing whether he would share the 120-acre Coliseum property for two new stadiums to be built.

Four weeks after being stymied in their effort to move to Los Angeles, the Raiders agreed to a one-year extension lease extension on Thursday to remain at the Oakland Coliseum through the 2016 season – and possibly beyond.

The Raiders also announced Thursday that they will not raise ticket prices for the 11th straight year for season ticket holders at the Coliseum.

He played in five games last season with three starts. Oakland hasn’t delivered a great stadium plan. If the two teams can not work out a deal then the Raiders will be given the next option to work out a deal with the Rams. Davis, involved in the now defunct Carson project, was hard after L.A. relocation.

Raiders owner Mark Davis called the deal a “win-win situation” and said he’s optimistic that a deal can get worked out that will keep the Raiders in Oakland. “I don’t think this gives us a sense of relaxation”.

“Clearly, there is a staring contest between the A’s and the Raiders”, he added.

As insane as it sounds, Las Vegas might be the wild-card option. The team’s owners are still hoping for a new stadium in either Oakland or a move south to the Los Angeles vicinity. Davis has explored the site, which sits less than a mile away from all the riches of the strip. Furthermore, the Raiders’ owner has said he will pony up $500 million and would like $400 million from the city, (assuming the stadium costs venture into the billion dollar range).

“Ultimately, it’s the ownership’s decision”, Goodell said.
