Rainbow Six Siege first DLC delayed to February

January 04 12:43 2016

Non-Season Pass holders should expect all the Operation Black Ice content on February 9.

An Ubisoft blog post past year suggested that each new DLC operator headed to Siege – of which there are eight in total planned – can be unlocked via 25 hours of regular gameplay. The maps and modes will be made available for free for everyone, whereas new operators and most weapon skins have to be acquired by paying real money or using Renown.

Season pass owners will be able to download both operators for free immediately once the content is available while everyone else will need to wait a week to unlock them either through in-game currency or via microtransaction purchases.

After a small bout of online issues after launch, Rainbow Six Siege has been a stable experience and one that Ubisoft is planning on updating quite often. Players can also look forward to unspecified “gameplay upgrades”.

Now I ain’t no counter-terrorist operator, but I’ve played enough Rainbow Six games over the years – not least the latest environment-thrashing, co-op-reliant endeavour – to know that a siege is best executed quickly, decisively and with precision and conviction. However, I have been having a lot of fun with the game when the servers have been working, though the control scheme on PC could do with a bit of tweaking.
