Rams’ dominant defense focuses on creating more turnovers

It’s no secret the Rams will need to continue rebuilding. The victor may be able to salvage its record.

There are numerous examples of how a change at quarterback can positively change the fortune of a team.

I’d doubt that they have the ability to compete with a team who has a real chance at the playoffs. New York’s quarterback woes continued as Ryan Fitzpatrick completed 17 of his 28 passes for just 193 yards and a touchdown that ended up being cancelled out by a pair of interceptions before leaving the game with a sprained MCL. And the fact that he nearly surely won’t be back next season after his one-year, $12 million contract expires makes it a fait accompli that Petty will eventually get a look. The Jets also have young QBs Bryce Petty and Christian Hackenberg waiting in the wings. But a source informed of the thinking of coach Todd Bowles says it’s a real decision based on how Fitzpatrick warms up. Fisher said he told Goff to prepare to go in, and Goff responded, “Coach, I’m ready”.

Make no mistake about it, Fitzpatrick’s days of being a starting quarterback are coming to an end.

In this October 16, 2016, file photo, Los Angeles Rams quarterback Case Keenum reacts to scoring a one-yard touchdown run against the Detroit Lions during an NFL football game in Detroit. The Panthers managed just 244 yards despite keeping the ball for more than 34 minutes, but the Rams’ offense didn’t score until midway through the fourth quarter of a 13-10 loss.

“You want to be 50/50”, Fisher said. Bowles has made it clear he believes Fitzpatrick gives them the best chance to win. Despite his injury issues this season, Forte has been arguably the Jets best player. It’s an extremely complicated defence and they can pressure the quarterback. “They’re very talented. Our focus is this week against the Jets, and Case will be under center”. Defensively, it was the Jets defense against the pass which stood out, despite being known as a run-stopping machine as NY held Miami QB Ryan Tannehill in check the entire game.

Talk about a game that features two teams that you really do not want to watch.

He is averaging only 3.1 yards per carry, totaling 451 yards and three touchdowns in eight games.

The Jets’ pass defense is not playing well, and cornerback Darrelle Revis looks like a shell of his old self. Los Angeles is a mess much like NY, but the one thing going for them is a hellacious pass rush, particularly its four-man defensive front. Keenum is a journeyman quarterback whom the Rams placed on their practice squad in 2014 – then reacquired with a seventh-round pick after the Texans signed him away that December. In some games turnovers can be overcome with excellent offensive play. The running game continues to be just as awful, as Todd Gurley is the league’s only running back with at least 85 rushes and no runs of at least 20 yards. Do not look for that trend to be broken against the Jets. The Jets problems at QB are arguably worse than the Rams as while no one could be worse than Keenum, Ryan Fitzpatrick has been in the small window of the first half of the season.

While Los Angeles has a struggling offense, its outstanding defense is now ranked eighth overall.

“(Three) weeks ago, we were one of the top offenses”, Rams wide receiver Tavon Austin said.
