Reports of clowns hit DeKalb

Since August, people in upstate NY and in states including South Carolina, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Ohio and Georgia have reported scary or suspicious incidents involving people dressed as clowns.

The Maplewood Police Department has received two reported clown sightings in town.

While some creepy clown sightings could be real threats, most are merely hoaxes. To date, there have been no known reports of serious injuries or deaths associated with these sightings. Reports said one of them, Jimmy Torres, 30, of Ferndale Avenue, gave police a false name.

If someone sees a rogue clown, try and provide as much detail as possible when calling, she added, including the license plate if they are driving and the clothes they are wearing.
