Republicans call for probe of Russian ties to Trump campaign

And Trump’s contention that leaks are “the real scandal” is a pitiful attempt to deflect attention from his very troubling relationship with Russian Federation and Vladimir Putin, whom he purports to respect.

Viktor Ozerov, head of the Russian Federation Council’s Defense and Security Committee, told Russian media that the recent White House statements about Crimea were likely meant to “mute” the discontent of the American establishment with Trump because of his alleged pro-Russian stance.

Flynn was resigned Monday after information became public about contacts he had with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak ahead of Trump’s inauguration last month.

The officials said the intercepted communications were not limited to Trump campaign officials, and included other associates of Mr. Trump.

Even as the White House drama played out, Trump attempted to downplay its significance on Tuesday.

On that last point, Trump is trying desperately to make it sound as if he’s not soft on Russian Federation.

Trump tweeted about about Russia’s seizure of the strategically important peninsula from Ukraine in 2014 amid calls for new investigations following National Security Advisor Mike Flynn’s resignation over his contacts with Russia’s USA ambassador.

The New York Times, for instance, reported Wednesday that multiple members of the president’s campaign team had contact with Russian intelligence officials during his successful race against Democrat Hillary Clinton.

Trump wouldn’t be having any of these problems had he not surrounded himself with a growing number of senior staff who have nefarious ties to Russian Federation.

Numerous members of the Senate and Congress spoke out against Trump following the allegations, some calling anyone found to have worked with Russian hackers or intelligence services to be tried for treason.

His departure follows those of Manafort and Carter Page, an early foreign policy adviser to the candidate. -Russian relations once Trump took power. However, these communications stood out to investigators due to the frequency and the level of the Trump advisers involved. And I’m not willing to accept that.
