Rouhani says Iran’s ballistic missile program will continue

Contrary to Mr. Obama’s hopes, there is no evidence that the nuclear deal has changed Iran’s hostility to the USA or its designs for regional dominance.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani speaks in a press conference in Tehran, Iran, Monday, May 22, 2017.

The conservatives in Iran fielded Ebrahim Raisi, a nationalist who had worked in the Iranian judiciary during an infamous massacre of opposition politicians.

Iran has always favored good ties with the regional and worldwide countries, he said.

“We in Pakistan welcome the re-election of Rouhani who is a seasoned statesman and a very good friend of Pakistan”, he noted.

Iran “is not ready to accept humiliation and threat”, Rouhani continued. It led to relief from worldwide economic sanctions in return for curbs on the country’s nuclear program.

The visit was meant to rebuild ties that strained during the Obama administration.

The US leader kept up the pressure during his visit to Israel yesterday. The resolution of the nuclear crisis is of crucial importance, as Iran needs the worldwide sanctions to be lifted.

He said the only sensible move by Washington was the nuclear deal it signed with Iran in 2015, when the USA “talked with respect” and reached a “win-win result”.

The tycoon-turned-president also claimed that the Iranian government, which is now led by moderate President Hassan Rouhani, “speaks openly of mass murder” and vows death to Israel and the US.

In a tweet following the speech, Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif accused Trump of ignoring Iran’s democratic credentials to “milk” Saudi Arabia of billions of dollars.

As punditsconsider the effects of Trump’s address on Muslim countries all over the world, they are in agreement on one point; that Trump’s shift toward a softer view of Islam, following years of decidedly impolitic criticism, will, at best, be met with a great deal of skepticism.

Some Iranians visiting Armenia also went to cast their ballots at their country’s embassy in Yerevan on Friday.

“The Iranian nation has chose to be powerful”.

He added: “If today we are proud of this turnout, it is because Imam [Khomeini] showed us this path. Imam was always saying that people must take part in their future and that the yardstick was people’s votes”.

Nakayama: It seems to be very different from previous year when Obama visited. There was a feeling that President Donald Trump would re-impose sanctions. The main streets of the capital were adorned with U.S. flags and numerous bulletin boards with the slogan, “Together We Prevail” with photos of King Salman and Trump.

Rouhani’s remarks amounted to an emphatic denunciation of the Saudi monarchy’s extravagant welcome for Trump in Riyadh on Saturday and Sunday and their portrayal of Iran as the destabilizing force in the region.

On Monday Trump arrived in Israel, where he again singled out Iran.
