A flight from NY to Chicago was rerouted to Detroit after authorities say a woman attacked several passengers.
The woman was arrested when United flight 3461 landed at Detroit Metropolitan Airport Thursday evening.
The woman, Breanna Farquharson, was charged with interfering with a flight attendant – a federal crime – according to WNBC-TV.
Detroit police said the woman may have been suffering a medical condition.
Farquharson also is accused of assaulting a passenger when she “grabbed the passenger’s shirt collar and necklace, breaking the necklace”.
A flight from LaGuardia to Chicago made an unexpected detour to Detroit last night after a female passenger allegedly attacked a flight attendant.
One of the passengers onboard, Bob Fitzsimmons, described in an email to FOX 2 what happened onboard.
He tells WXYZ that the woman had her hands at the flight attendant’s throat – ripping off her necklace and scratching the woman’s face – before a few other passengers rallied and forced the violent passenger down on the ground. Conway said other passengers on the plane indicated they wanted to press charges against her.
After an hour delay, the flight continued on to Chicago, where it had been scheduled to arrive at 8:30 p.m. It appears the flight attendant was not seriously injured.
Further details were not immediately available.
