Freedom Caucus members said they wanted to see the White House offer in writing – expected Tuesday – before deciding whether to accept it. Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wis., protected many Republicans by averting a House vote on the doomed bill, but several dozen supported it in committees.

The House Republican leadership, at the urging of Donald Trump, has withdrawn its bill to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act.

The latest Republican health care idea could mean going back to a time when people with medical problems were charged much higher premiums for individual policies, experts say. “Many of them have already left, and many of them as you know have already given us their vote”, he continued.

He added that President Ronald Reagan “only succeeded” when he rebuffed the establishment and aligned himself with conservative Republicans.

But health care industry consultant Robert Laszewski said it would also open a “back door” to a system where the sick can get priced out of coverage.

“We have the House, the Senate, the White House”, said David Winston, a GOP strategist who advises congressional leaders.

This weekend, Senior White House aide Dan Scavino called for someone to run against Amash in a primary and beat him, calling for his electoral defeat. Plus use official White House position to try to influence GOP primary which violates the Hatch Act, a firing offense.

Freedom Caucus members, whom Trump has blamed for the implosion of his first healthcare deal, want to see Obamacare’s Title I insurance regulations dismantled in the GOP legislation.

“We had a great day with the president”, Paul said, in reference to his golf date at Trump National Golf Club in northern Virginia with Trump and Mick Mulvaney, the White House director of the Office of Management and Budget.

“Doesn’t bring down premiums”, Jordan told CNN” s “State of the Union” on Sunday.

Along with Republicans in the House and Senate, President Trump also campaigned heavily to repeal Obamacare, and made it a priority of his presidency. After House Speaker Paul Ryan pulled the bill in March amid opposition from conservative and moderate corners of the Republican Party, the Wisconsin Republican said Obamacare would remain the law of the land for the foreseeable future, and Trump said he would move on, likely to tax reform, until Obamacare “explodes”.

Should he choose to work with Democrats, he said, then “the Freedom Caucus loses so big”.

“We talked about it quite a bit, and I think where they are is still trying to make it work with what they have”, Paul said.

Sen. Rand Paul, whose interests on the issue have been closely aligned with the House Freedom Caucus, called the suggestion that states can opt-out of the community rating provision, “a step in the right direction”.

POLITICO: Democrats in Trump territory in no mood to deal – “Trump’s polarizing agenda and early stumbles have stiffened the resolve of moderate Democrats once spooked by his success in their districts”. The bill’s demise was due to opposition from some conservatives, as well as from a number of GOP moderates upset about changes to the bill that Ryan had allowed in an effort to accommodate the conservatives. Asked on CNN if he feared for his own job and those of his colleagues come the 2018 midterms, Jordan, who was a Division I wrestling champion in college, said: “Competition is fine, I’ve never shied away from competition”.
