This launch of upcoming smartphone Samsung Galaxy S8 is planned to launch in Europe and United States at the same time. Recently, a leak from a reputable source has been released, providing the very first official photos of the Galaxy S8, as well as some of the device’s specifics.
According to VentureBeat, the Galaxy S8 – which will actually be offered in two forms, differentiated by two screen sizes – will be Samsung’s largest S Series handsets to-date. For those already beginning to gawk at those figures, it is important to note that the unusual aspect ratio of 18.5:9 means that the Galaxy S8 devices will result in effectively the same dimensions as their S7 siblings.
With the Nougat update, Samsung has also pushed for its long-awaited payment system known as Samsung Pay, in India. Since there is no Home button, the fingerprint scanner rests on the back. There will be Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 processor, while another will be a 10-nanometer processor bearing the Samsung Exynos brand. No other Android flagship released before it will carry this hi-tech chip. Like the Galaxy S7, the S8 will sport 4GB RAM with 64GB internal storage option, which will be expandable up to 256GB using a microSD card. Both phones should come with an 11% increase in performance compared to the S7, 23% faster graphics, but at the same time 20% more energy efficiency. The 5.8-inch Galaxy S8 variant is likely to be priced at €799 (Rs 58,100 approximately), while the 6.2-inch variant will retail at €899 (Rs 65,400 approximately). Also, the report tips that the Samsung Galaxy S8 will have an iris recognition feature that was earlier seen in the Galaxy Note 7. The rear shooter will stay at 12-megapixels with an aperture of f/1.7 and the front selfie camera will be 8-megapixels with the same aperture as the rear.
With the included fingerprint sensor and NFC, the Samsung Pay works fine with this device.
According to reports, Samsung will include a Bixby button within its camera app that immediately launches a search function.
Evan Blass, who has rather credible record with his leaks in the past, suggests Samsung’s next flagship smartphone will feature some significant design changes. With DeX, you can connect your mobile to a larger display and use it in a desktop-like mode.
It is also reported that the camera will be able to identify objects in its frame, a feature that arrives thanks to the rumored new assistant Bixby.
Samsung is rumored to unveil the handset at a press event in NY on March 29th.
