The company might finally come out with one this year – the Samsung Galaxy X rumors started buzzing early this month after the company filed a patent describing a foldable display with a mechanical hinge in the middle.
The listing mentions that the smartphone received certification running Android 6.0 Marshmallow, but it’s hard to say if the phone would receive an update to Nougat at some point. Of course, we would certainly not rule out the very real possibility of the Galaxy S8 flagship device that is set to be revealed in the near future to have Android 7.0 Nougat in tow. An official Galaxy S8 support page on Samsung’s India website went online on Monday. The company can’t afford to repeat the mistakes it made with the Galaxy Note7, especially with the Galaxy S8 series, which will most likely include its most popular devices in 2017.
It’s been two years since the last Xcover entered the market. If Samsung is hoping to continue that timeline, we’d expect to see an imminent announcement, followed by a launch next month.
Back to the URL in question. This is pretty good evidence that there is at least some Samsung phone with the unknown model number.
Next were tweets from reputable leaker Evan Blass showing alleged images of an actual Galaxy S8 handset. However, The Korea Herald reports that Samsung might play a short teaser for the Galaxy S8 at the end of the presentation, which could give us a firm release date for the upcoming smartphone.
Since the phone is not yet official, we don’t really know all the ways that the S8 will differ from the S8 Plus.
The Galaxy S8 is expected to have a 3,000 mAh battery, on par with the Galaxy S7 but smaller than the LG G6’s battery. Based on the schematics, the Galaxy S8 was said to feature a 5.7-inch display (when not accounting the side curves), slightly shorter and thinner than the Galaxy S7 smartphone.
Samsung declined to comment.
