When did this crisis start? .
Samsung has been in a awful situation for some time now, because of Galaxy Note 7 flagship smartphone and has received lot of flak for it.
Now a video posted to YouTube by US-based XDA Developers group shows the elaborate kit Samsung is sending out to customers so that they can return their phones safely. The problems may have just reached a new high point. Globe launched the Note 7 in August.
Its Note 7 appeared to have an issue with its battery.
Lithium-ion batteries, used in smartphones and many other electronic devices, are an efficient and compact energy-storing technology.
In a statement on Wednesday, Samsung Malaysia urged owners of Samsung Galaxy Note 7 to immediately power off their devices. The report also says the engineers were under pressure to fix the problem.
How does this affect Samsung? .
Note 7 was its new flagship device.
The company is the most popular maker of Android phones and the world’s leading smartphone maker, selling over 77 million phones in the second quarter of 2016. All told, Samsung’s return kit includes four layers of packaging, along with that thermally-insulated layer in the event that the phone overheats, catches fire or explodes during its return to Samsung.
Which is why it would be a shame if the replacements were to explode too.
The South Korean firm now expects third quarter profits of 5.2tn won ($4.7bn; £3.8bn), which is a third lower than its original estimate of 7.8tn won, reports The BBC.
Setting itself apart from previous models, the new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus have removed the earphone sockets, and are instead accompanied by wireless earphones – which has driven some customers away from the new iPhones.
Next, the OEM replacement box is to be placed inside a slightly larger box that Samsung referred to as the “Inner Box”.
At the time of the recall, Samsung cited “minor manufacturing flaw” in its battery production as the preliminary reason for some devices catching on fire.
It said consumers are alternatively entitled to a full refund for the Note 7 and accessories for the Note 7. Singapore customers can also choose another Samsung device, with a refund in the price difference.
Officials from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission echoed that advice in their own statement, adding that they are continuing to investigate at least five incidents of fire or overheating reported since a formal recall was announced September 15.
